Application for Secondary One Discretionary Places (2023/2025)

I.          Application Procedure   

1.         Application forms can be obtained in the following ways:                 

  • In-person from the General Office on G/F of our Secondary School Building

  •  Download the application form from the school website.

2.         Application period : 2nd to 16th January 2025 (both dates inclusive)

3.         Completed application forms should be submitted to the General Office in person during office hours together with the following documents:

  1. Application Form for S1 Discretionary Place issued by the EDB (Our school code is 505)
  2. Photocopies of P.5 (First and Second Term) and P.6 (First Term) school report cards.
  3. A photocopy of a document showing the residential address (e.g. electricity / water / telephone bill, bank statement)
  4. A photocopy of applicant’s identity card or birth certificate
  5. Two self-addressed stamped ($2.2) envelopes
  6. One recent photo (posted on the application form)

*Parents who have registered as SSPA e-Platform users with “iAM Smart+” may submit the applications for Discretionary Places Allocation (if applicable) via the SSPA e-Platform. The School’s Copy of Application Form for Secondary One Discretionary Places (“The Green Slip”) is not required to be submitted in person or online.

** Repeating applications through paper or electronic forms will not increase the chances of admission, and therefore, parents should not resubmit via both paper and electronic forms.

4. There is no need to provide recommendation letters from the primary schools.

5. Photocopies of certificates or records for co-curricular activities and community service will not be collected when forms are submitted. However, applicants should bring along the original copies to the interview for verification purpose.

6. Once submitted, the Application Form for S1 Discretionary Place cannot be cancelled or retrieved.

7. All documents submitted are solely used for school places application and will not be returned.

II.         Interview        

  1. All applicants will be invited to attend an interview on 15th March 2025 (Saturday). Details of the interview will be sent to applicants by mail in late February.
  2. The interview will be conducted in both Cantonese and English.
  3. Students’ abilities, such as their command of Chinese and English, communication, problem solving and critical thinking skills and their general knowledge on current affairs, mathematics and science will be assessed.
  4. Parents are strongly encouraged to accompany their children to the interview.

III.        Admission Criteria and Weightings

IV. Number of Discretionary Places

In 2025-2026 the number of discretionary places available for application is 35.

V.         Interviewing Committee        

Members of the Interviewing Committee include the Chairman of the SMC (or his representative), Principal and teachers.

VI.        Announcement of Results

School will notify parents of successful applicants of their children’s inclusion in the Successful Lists for Discretionary Places on 31th March 2025 by mail and by phone.

These notification arrangements are not applicable to reserve and unsuccessful applicants.

The results of Discretionary Places and Central Allocation will be released at the same time on 8th July 2025 by the EDB.
